I thought I’d just throw in a quick post today to point you to a site I stumbled over http://digitalcitizen.ca/2011/02/20/free-myers-briggs-test/ which you might find useful if you’re interested in all this stuff or are likely to come up against this classic personality test at a job interview or such like in the near future.
There are a lot of these sites on the internet but this one actually does the job. It’s free, which can’t be bettered and uses the classic questions. The STB trick though, is that you can download the spreadsheet of questions.
That’s a real bonus because it gives you the chance to revise your answers till they fit the personality you want to project.
Now that’s a damn fool idea, if you want to crack a personality test to get a job and you’ll be caught fast by the balancers that are used in all the tests used by professional recruiters. But I’ll bet there are a few of you out there want to give it a shot?
Personality testing is not really regarded as useful these days in evaluating new employees and far more useful is using aptitude testing. Again, though, you can rehearse and cheat on these if you know you are going to be subjected to them in advance of an interview.
It’s an option.
Not a recommended option.
All that being said, if you are not sure about whether you are cut out for business or just a dreamer looking for an escape, taking a test like that linked to above might well be a useful way forward for you. Some of us are escapists and dreamers and there is nothing wrong with that. Think of it as a chance to look in another more appropriate direction to direct the frustration and energy you feeling now. Actually the Digital Citizen author has provided great guide points in his downloadable PDF documents.
And no, I’m not getting commission on this, you sceptic. Some things are worth too much to sell!
